The garden is also a viewpoint
Close to two acres of green space, down the hill from the church and convent of Graça, were closed to the public for centuries, but opened in 2015 after landscaping works that lasted several years.
The central lawn is often used for picnics and sunbathing
Around 180 trees and shrubs were planted for the new park, a central lawn was laid out, and a picnic area and orchard were created. Visitors may now stay in the shade or in the sun, as they admire the view over old Lisbon, that goes from the castle to the Mouraria district.
The kiosk serves refreshments thoughout the day
There’s also a kiosk café with a terrace and a playground.
How to Get to Jardim da Cerca da Graça
Take tram 28 to the Graça stop. Turn to Rua Damasceno Monteiro, and then go down Calçada do Monte to the left.
You may ride the tram, and Lisbon’s metro, funiculars, buses, and trains for free with the Lisboa Card.
Calçada do Monte, Graça
A short walk up the hill is Miradouro da Senhora do Monte, one of Lisbon’s favorite viewpoints for sunset views. Another popular viewpoint, Miradouro da Graça, is also within walking distance.
